Tomato Puffiness. Can these tomatoes be eaten or should they go into the trash?
Yesterday, I picked a roma tomato that appeared normal on the outside, but when I sliced it open, the wall of the tomato and the pulp were completely seperated from one another. The tomato cell wall looked disgusting to say the least. I threw it in the trash. Are "puffy" tomatoes edible or did I do the right thing?
eh i throw them away…they are just a few days from a mulch pile..but other people eat them..as long as it doesnt have that sickening tomato rot smell you can eat them

Hummm,I have grown New Jersey Tomatoes from seed for at least 20 years.I have seen the seeds separated from the pulp but what you discribe as yucky, maybe the tomato is over ripe???? we here in New Jersey have had a somewhat wet summer I have not seen a decent tomato from my co-workers yet? maybe it is weather related what is wrong with your "maters.I wish you better luck next year.
